RAILWAY BRANCH (5 km) OF THE MULTIMODAL CENTER OF PARMA - CEPIM – ITALY

DATE: The engineering services took place in the period 2005-2009 in n.4 different phases:
- from 2005 to 2006: enlargement of the existing Terminal
- from 2006 to 2007: new Terminal for Container inside the multimodal center of Parma
- from 2007 to 2008: improvement and development of railway connections and of the poles along the corridor TI-BRE (TIrreno-BREnnero)
- from 2008 to 2009: action of technological adaptation (Electric Traction, Electric Signaling and Telecommunications) and functional adaptation from the Castelguelfo station (Milan-Bologna line) to the multimodal center of Parma (5 km).
PROJECT VALUE: € 60 millions.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Definition of the railway lay-out and sizing of the new yards; verification of the correct running of the trains; planning of new means for the container handling; planning of new road network to support the traffic inside the yards.

Definition of the action to modify the electrical equipment of the Castelguelfo station; electrification plan of the railway branch and of the new railway marshalling yard; Signaling and Telecommunications modification of the railway line and of the yards.

Railway transport analysis along the corridor La Spezia Port – Parma – Verona Multimodal Center; simulation of the railway service with the target to verify the running impacts on the existing railway “Pontremolese” line and choice of optimal compositions of trains.
